How it works
A tuner that knows the tune
A tuner tells you which note you are singing. It cannot tell you which note you were supposed to sing. Pitcheon reads the melody out of the original recording first, so it can. Then it does the tuner's job a hundred times a second against that.

Stems
With the singer, without the singer, or just the singer
Learning a line? Solo the vocal and shadow it. Ready? Take the singer out. The band plays on, and the roll still knows the melody.
Stems are decoded once and kept in memory, the rest in the background, so switching mid-song is instant. Separation is deterministic: the same song splits the same way every time, so a score from last month still means what it meant.

An editor that keeps the time
Whisper transcribes the words and Pitcheon corrects what it got wrong. Editing is editing text: retype a word, break a line, join two, and Pitcheon works out when to show it. This is the editor itself. Whisper heard "bridge door" on line four. Fix it and press save.
Whisper places a word early, up to a second on real songs. Alignment puts it on the onset, the pale tick.

Every run is kept. Every take says where it went off
With the mic on, every run is recorded and scored. Open a take and it plays back over the backing with your pitch drawn as you sang it, and the trouble spots listed worst first. Click one to jump there. Each take is also checked for how late your mic was, and one key makes that your setting.

What stays yours
Nothing you sing leaves your Mac
There is no account, no sign-up and no analytics. Your music, your recordings and your scores live in a folder on your own disk. Pitcheon has no server to send them to. The app makes exactly two kinds of network request, and the privacy notice is short because that is the whole list.
Bring songs you already own. Pitcheon works on audio files that are already on your Mac: your own recordings, or music you've bought. It has no way to fetch music from anywhere, and that is deliberate. What it does with a file you give it, it does locally, for your own practice. The terms cover the rest.

Free, signed, and it updates itself
Two builds, because the Macs are two different machines. Apple Silicon has hardware Pitcheon can use for the heavy analysis; Intel does not, so preparing a song takes longer there. Once a song is prepared, singing to it feels identical on both.
Pitcheon is a Mac app. Open this page on your Mac to download it; there is nothing to install on a phone.
Not sure which? Apple menu → About This Mac. Any Mac from 2020 on is Apple Silicon, and that build is the one to take: it has the hardware for the heavy analysis, so a song is ready in a minute or two rather than twenty. After installing, Pitcheon fetches about 500 MB of models the first time you prepare a song; after that it works with the wifi off.
